This might be the best thing that has ever happend to me!

Mrs. Lochridge over at First Grade Factory is a sanity saver.

She posted the most adorable picture direction icons on her blog a couple weeks ago and I fell in love. Well, little did I know that they would literally be the BEST thing in my classroom! I used them today for the first time and oooh my goodness, let me just tell you how smoothly the activity went! Like I wanted to drop everything, log on to blogger and let her know! But clearly, I was teaching! haha anyway, go check out her amazing picture direction cards and experience the magic yourself!

  1. Did you make your own? I clicked on the icon guy and nothing came up?

  2. I printed these out too, haven't used them yet but they're all made and ready to go.

  3. I also wondered how to print them?

  4. I use picture icons like these every day that I used from Word Clipart. The images are: pencil, the word NAME in tracer letters, crayons, scissors, glue stick, glue bottle, highlighter, paper.
I make mini versions to match for my IEP kids and have a little chart with velcro at those kids table spots to help. I dont have any pictures but can take one tomorrow if you want.

  5. Thank you for loving this idea. It is really simplistic but a time saver. I posted the icons again this evening.

  6. How fun! Love great classroom management ideas :)

  7. I love this! Thank you! Now why didn't I think of that? I can't wait to use these because I can already see how beneficial this will be to my class!
    Thank you,

  8. I posted my icons like these that I use on my blog if you want to download them from google docs.

  9. Oh my gosh... I do this too. Except this year I added pictures for everything! (I teach ELL's in AZ, last year my class was level 2's which means they speak no English, and can understand a tiny bit.) So after the first few days I figured they needed pictures big time! I have pictures for sitting down, get a drink, put your folder in your cubby... essentially anything and everything I could want them to do! It has been so helpful and will be something I do from now on. I will post those pictures soon my blog to share!

This summer I am working on a set for story elements too... very similar... the word character with 2 or 3 visuals of who the character is etc. Then I will have that visual on my easel whenever I need them!
