So...I'm not gonna lie, my break-apart brain words activity was a DISASTER!!! All of the letters got mixed up and placed in different eggs! The letters were too small for my little kinders' hands to grab! It was just awful! So like a good teacher, I did some reflecting and have found some ways to make it work!

First off, I made the letters bigger so they're easier to handle!

Secondly, I had the idea to color code each word after printing it out. What was I thinking?!!? Thanks to Ms. Helms, appropriately at Work Smart, Not Hard in Kindergarten, who gave me the idea of color coding before printing! Thank you Ms. Helms!!!!!! And check out her adorable football "scrambled" words.

Here's a new copy if you'd like to grab it.

  2. I color code my words also but not to match the egg. Jump over to my blog and see a similar game I made but with plastic footballs.

  3. Don't be so hard on yourself! Reflection is good but don't just focus on the bad :)

  4. It happens to the best of us girl! Don't sweat it! You fix it and know the next time it will be as amazing as you had imagined!

  5. *Knock on wood* Only 2 groups have done it so far, but this game has been great in my literacy stations! I ran out of Easter eggs (and the Dollar Store doesn't have them anymore....sad face), so the words are just in little tiny boxes. I drew little pictures on the back (clouds on one word, triangles on another word, etc) in the horrible event that someone decides to mix them all up, but that hasn't happened yet! I like the color-coded idea, too, though! Thanks!

  6. Love them thanks!

FYI, I was reading Oopsey Daisy's blog and when I saw her sign I thought of you. :)
