As a Kindergarten teacher, I always find myself singing songs! And I'm not talking about "Days of the Week" or "normal" songs you would sing throughout the day...I mean I sing everything. It's not my fault that kids respond better to singing than to talking {must be all that TV!} So if I want my students to write their names on their papers, I will sing "your name goes at the top, your name goes at the top, don't forget your name goes at the top!" I usually just make them up as I go. Hidden talent ;)
Anyway, I realized the other day that I made up a REALLY COOL song! I think I made it up anyway...I don't want to take credit if I didn't! But I wasn't quite sure how to google it. If you've heard it before, please let me know!
As previously mentioned, my summer school class WILL NOT STOP TALKING is kind of loud. Reallllly annoying! So I sang this song to them and they all of a sudden started singing along!
And then they were quiet and they earned a marble!!

Does the song need to be made up???? In order to link up??? I sing all the livelong day, too, but usually it's other people's songs. :) Love YOUR song, though!

I am always making up songs to familiar tunes also. I would feel like a total dope if any adult heard, but it works with the kiddos. Last year I even used a Rolling Stones song (and only changed one word) when a little one was having a meltdown because she didn't get her way. Without thinking (a character flaw that I have), I began singing "You don't always get what you want, you don't always get what you want, you don't always get what you want; but you get what you need." It totally calmed my little one down and so I often used it with her after that and she usually ended up singing it with me and ended up with a smile on her face. (Not always, alas, but often.)

I sing and make up songs too! I especially love ones that alter moods from crabby to giggling. :)

I make up songs too! Last year as we were walking in the hallway I made this one:
Put a bubble in your mouth, in your mouth

Put a bubble in your mouth (and end with a "bum, bum" shaking hips from side to side) lol.
My kids loved that one! Unfortunately, as the year progressed they started singing with me too in the hallway so I had to stop! :)
I love it. I am going to use that this year.
I sing everything too! My problem is that I can never remember the song long enough to write it down.

PS - I make up songs all the time too! I can't even think of one right now... but I could make up a song about not having a song if you want me too. =) Kinders love crazy... and singing about everything makes us crazy! =)
