Have you heard of Pinterest?

Like any good blogger, I check my stats on a regular basis ;) Well when I checked my stats this morning, I had an abnormally large amount of views on the Tabletop organizer post and that always makes me suspicious. So I click on the links on my traffic sources and come across Pinterest.

Somebody "liked" my tabletop organizer and linked it back to my blog. Pinterest looks so cool, but I have no idea how this website works!? Does anyone use it!? It kind of reminds me of a Sqworl site where you can keep things you've seen online grouped together to find easily again. Look at this!

I never thought I would inspire so many people! :)

Rhyme Time

My students are finally understanding the concept of rhyming words! Well, most of them. Some still think that bat and coat rhyme but that's beside the point...anyway, I saw this great idea on Lori's blog, Little Priorities, about how she used rhyming puzzles during small group work.

I don't have any rhyming puzzles {!} but it did trigger my memory about rhyming flash cards that I made for my principal observation last year! So I pulled the cards out and created a little worksheet to go with the activity.

The kids loved it and they did such a good job! I was very impressed!

Counting Activity- Math Center

Popsicle Party!

The bottom half of the popsicle has dots for kids to count. The top half of the popsicle can be used in two ways; keep the number and number word together to be matched to the dots, or for more of a challenge, cut apart the number from the number word.

Reflection...

So...I'm not gonna lie, my break-apart brain words activity was a DISASTER!!! All of the letters got mixed up and placed in different eggs! The letters were too small for my little kinders' hands to grab! It was just awful! So like a good teacher, I did some reflecting and have found some ways to make it work!

First off, I made the letters bigger so they're easier to handle!

Secondly, I had the idea to color code each word after printing it out. What was I thinking?!!? Thanks to Ms. Helms, appropriately at Work Smart, Not Hard in Kindergarten, who gave me the idea of color coding before printing! Thank you Ms. Helms!!!!!! And check out her adorable football "scrambled" words.
