My Gingerbread Family

 It's barely December, but I was just so darn excited about my gingerbread activities that I couldn't wait any longer to teach it!!

We started our instruction by reading the story The Gingerbread Family {aaaand it's scratch and sniff!}
Then I projected a gingerbread man onto the screen and we discussed what a gingerbread man was made out of.
We talked about how a gingerbread man is the same and different from a real person and I totally wished I had a venn diagram to fill out!! I made one as soon as school was over! Looks like we'll be doing that tomorrow!

Then each kid got a chance to label and color their own gingerbread man.
Here's my sample.

I thought it would be fun for them to practice labeling the parts of a gingerbread man so I made another copy of the gingerbread man, with a word bank, and laminated it so my kiddos can write on it during independent centers. I also made several copies of different gingerbread men for my students to practice drawing in the art center. I can't wait to see how cute they all turn out!

Then, during math, we created our gingerbread families! My students were pros at this since we did our turkey family already ;) Again, we drew the same number of gingerbread people as people in our family. We used the labeling page as a guide to help us draw each gingerbread person. Then we used our counting skills to fill in the blanks at the bottom.

I'm thinking I will mount the labeled gingerbread man and the gingerbread family back to back and hang them in our classroom.

You can get your copy of the gingerbread activities at my TpT store. If you downloaded them before today, go back and re-download! There are now 16 pages which include the gingerbread man labeling for independent centers, art centers and the venn diagrams {with a boy and girl comparison!}

You can also get these activities as part of my Winter Games and Centers pack. I updated them today, so go re-download if you've already purchased!

Gobble, Gobble, Happy Thanksgiving!

 There's something about November that just makes me happy! The crisp {but still warm!} weather, the number 11 {oh my word, I overheard one of the kids at school sharing that he turned 11 on 11/11/11...I almost died of jealousy!} and Thanksgiving, of course! I love spending time with family, eating delicious food and being thankful. I am so, so, so thankful!!

First, and foremost, I am thankful for being happy.  I am thankful that I have the best family in the world, that my boyfriend loves me and supports me and that I have the best job in the whole wide world!

I am thankful for my blog. I love that I have an outlet to share what is important to me, and with people who actually care! I'm sure you can all relate to having people in your life who could care less what your funny kindergartners said or the cute turkey hat your class made! So I am thankful for YOU!

I'm thankful for all my bloggy BFFs that I've made; Tamara, Melissa, Kristen, Kristin, Erin and Leslie. I look forward to reading your blogs every day, seeing the adorable things you made and reading your hilarious emails. Seriously, you all fulfill me!

All in all, I am thankful for my life because it is the BEST!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Happy Blogiversary to Me!

I can not believe I have been blogging for a whole year!
{How embarrassing, I published my post with blog spelled wrong! I blame blogiversary for not being a real word!}

I started my blog a year ago, 4 months into my first year of teaching as an escape from what was consuming my life. I wanted to blog about crafting, creating and my cute outfits! Until I realized that I wasn't escaping the teaching thoughts at all! I was pouring over teaching blogs, posting about fun things in my classroom and on April 8th, I even became a Teaching Blog Addict and wrote our very first post! I can safely say that blogging has changed my life, and I LOVE IT!!

As a thank you to all of my followers, I want to do a giveaway!

The first winner chosen will receive ALL of my products listed in my Teachers Pay Teachers store including...

My best selling product:
My November Games and Centers:

and my NEW Winter Games and Centers!

 {Thanks Rachelle for the "shadow" tutorial! <3}

The second winner will get to choose two products!
And the third winner will get to choose one!

Leave me a comment here to be entered to win!
I will choose the winners on Sunday Nov 27th, my one year blogiversary!

Also, because I'm in the {thanks}giving mood... and because the timing works out perfectly, I will be throwing a sale on Monday Nov 28th, {Cyber Monday!} at both my TpT and TN store!

My Winter Games and Centers pack will be up on Cyber Monday!
I want to shout out a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who gave me feedback on my products. It really helped me with my winter pack and I think you all will really like it! I know most of you said you like smaller packs that are reasonably priced, but I just couldn't resist! I kept thinking of such cute centers and games! I did take one center out to make the pack smaller. You can get this center for FREE by liking my new Facebook page!

I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing Thanksgiving!

P.S. My printer is BOTHERING THE YOU KNOW WHAT OUT OF ME!! I've only had it for six months, and rarely ever print from it {promise!} yet it's always out of colored ink and prints my pages all ugly! If you'd like to share what kind of printer you have that can count as your comment! Thanks guys!!!

My Turkey Family

Here's a fun math activity for Thanksgiving!
We started with an anchor chart on "How to draw a turkey"as a whole class before the students drew them on their own. I prep my anchor charts in pencil first and then go over it with markers during the lesson. We also labeled certain parts of the turkey to help develop vocabulary.

Have your students draw their turkey family by drawing the same number of turkeys as people in their family.
After the turkeys are drawn and colored, fill in the blanks on the bottom by counting the objects.
{You can also practice skip counting by 2's!}

Click the image above to download for free!
{P.S. It took me almost a year, but I finally added a freebies link on my sidebar! haha whoops...}

Personalized Stamp Giveaway!

I recently won a personalized stamp from Polka Dot Parlor and I was so excited! Of course, I picked a stamp that I could use in my classroom! :)

I personalized my stamp to say "From the Library of Miss Maor" and stamped it on the inside of all of my books! So much easier and cuter than writing my name in them {tried that and stopped after about 5 books!} and stays on way better than stickers!

I loved my stamp so much that I asked Bethany if I could give one away on my blog, and she agreed!!
So now one of you can win your very own personalized stamp, personalized anyway that you'd like! You can choose what you want it to say and how you want it to look. And Bethany is a teacher too, so she totally "gets it". Go visit Polka Dot Parlor and find your favorite design!
Polka Dot Parlor
They also have super cute peel and stick designs that you can attach to your stamp! I have my eye on this one.

To enter you must Follow Bethany's blog, TpT store and TN store
