Common Core Jar Giveaway!

My sweet new blogging friend Tara is giving away her awesome Common Core Questioning Jar pack!

This jar is filled with all of the common core mathematics standards; over 130 questions included.  The standards are addressed in easy to read/understand questioning cards.  Tara uses this jar during calendar time by pulling out one question a day. She has either one student or the entire class answer the question!

What a creative and great way to incorporate the new common core math standards into your classroom!

Tara is graciously giving away this pack to 3 lucky winners!
Here's how to enter:
1. Follow Tara's blog Little Minds at Work and leave a comment here.
2. Follow Tara's TpT store and leave a comment here.
3. Download Tara's {free preview} and leave a comment with some feedback!
{All comments must be left on Miss Kindergarten's post to be entered into the giveaway}

Hadar,
You are such a friend celebrating the work of another blogger. Thank you for being such a great example!!! I haven't met you, but I really, really admire you!

Now for a question: Since we teach in the same state, I am curious about how your school / district is approaching the Common Core standards. Up in my area, we are learning about the CC standards, but actually teaching to them is on hold. We are to stay true to the current state standards. Very true. Some of us (ME!!!!!) are eagerly waiting for the day when we can dump our current standards and just use the CC. (Well, the common core plus our state's 15%. Sigh.) Are things similar in the southern part of the state or are you further along than us in terms of actually using the new standards? (I know that the current state testing is making districts stay status quo, but I am hoping that there are districts that are jumping in because that would give me hope.)

Camille,
I live in Missouri and my district is adopting the Common Core as it will relate to the first test being given. For example, my Kindergarten class this year will never take our standardized test the, MAP. They will take only the new Common Core test as a third grader. My K class from last year will start the common core curriculum next year when they are 2nd graders as they will take the MAP as a third grader and the Common Core as a fourth grader.

So I think it really depends on your district as when to implement.

As far as this questioning jar- all of the questions are suitable for any curriculum. You would just need to add in your state standards until the Common Core is adopted if there are standards that are not part of the K Common Core.

Thanks Tara

i just downloaded tara's freebie. i think it's a great way to get our students talking! so much of what i'm seeing with the common core standards is having students actually explain their answers/understanding. love this! :)

I downloaded the free previes. I have also implemented the Common Core standards this year, and I served on the committee that was responsible for rolling the common core out. These will be great to use throughout the day...The language arts core are our next phase (which I have implemented them this year as well). Thanks for your simple tasks to bring the students to different levels of thinking.

Took a peak and think it a BRILLIANT idea! So user friendly, cute, and....BLOODY BRILLIANT! I am working on implementing CCS in our small private school. Getting "seasoned" teachers on board is hard, but with ideas like this, it might be more convincing.
