Do you Dojo?

Have you heard of Class Dojo? It is one of my favorite classroom management tools that I have used this year! One of my favorite things about it is that all the data is saved online and I never have to worry about remembering or writing down behaviors that I want to document! It is free and super user friendly! Most of it is really self explanatory, and there's little tutorials on the site if you need more help, but I just wanted to share with you some of the aspects of it that I just love!

Here's how it works...

I think having the dojo app on my iPhone is my most favorite part! I love having that control in the palm of my hand! And my students know that when they see me take out my phone it's time to shape up!

Here's a little video that explains how Dojo works. It is on the front page of their website so you can show it to your class too!

So do you Dojo? What is your favorite part??

  1. I use Class Dojo and LOVE it! My kiddos get so excited when they hear that little sound when they earn a point. I had my phone out in the hallways, at lunch, etc so they could continue to earn points even when we weren't in the classroom. They knew their behavior mattered EVERYWHERE in our school!

  2. Love Class Dojo! My kids get such a kick out of the sound effects when they can't see the point board... I've never seen children get back on track so quickly after they hear that gong! :)

  3. I used it with my kinder kids this year and LOVED it! I loved that I could so easily keep track of both of my classes! I also loved that I could take it with me (on my phone) and use it in assemblies, library, even at recess! FABULOUS! Parents told me how much they loved the feedback and the weekly reports. I will be using it again next year for sure!

  5. I have heard of this but have not tried it yet. Thanks for the easy to follow pictures and steps. Glad you blogged about this so I can put it on my summer check out and implement list! You rock! Thanks for hopping by my blog last night : ) It feels so good to be back in the blogging world.

  6. I heard about this site last year, but didn't do much with it. We started PBIS last year and are doing it again next year. This looks so much easier than passing out tickets for good behavior. I'll definitely look into it. Did you use this instead of sending home a behavior chart? I use the clip chart that goes up and down and fill in the color daily. This seems so much easier, so I was just curious if your parents checked this daily or if you still sent something home.

  7. We Dojo! My kiddos know what's coming when they see my iPhone or iPad come out! The app on the iPad is bigger so I used it more on there. Dojo corrects behavior REALLY fast!! :)

  8. I have used Dojo with my older students during this last quarter and they have loved it. They love going on and changing their avatars. They will come into class and get so excited to show off what they created. I also love that it keeps track of all of their behaviors. It really helps when I am writing up their report cards.

  9. I used Dojo and I loved it--when it worked. I think it has something to do with the "oldness" of our computers at school and our lack of wireless internet. sometimes it wouldn't make the "ding" or "bonk" when I would add or take away points. I think that was the most powerful feature! They would hear that bonk and immediately get back on track. I'm definitely going to give it another chance next school year!

  10. I've used it off and on this year -- I especially liked the fact that my sub could use it at school, and I could check behavior from home! I also have a clip chart, and sometimes use Whole Brain Teaching scoreboard -- I like to change it around to see what works best. Dojo is pretty cool.

  18. I love Dojo!! I plan on using it more next year by tying it into my overall behavior plan. This year I tried it out and then had too many things going at once. It's sooo easy and the kids respond so well! :)

  19. I love dojo! My kids love it too! They like to say "Ms. Cullen, I think you get a negative point for that" hahah. Parents are loving Dojo too! I only had one complaint. I may just use it for the few who need that extra help. We will see! Thanks for the tutorial!

  22. I used this in 1st grade and I was wondering if I could still use it in Kindergarten next year. So glad to hear how many Kinder teachers like it and don't think it is too much for them. This is exactly what I was looking for!!

  24. I use this in my class. This was my first week using it. They have done a really good job using it. I love to use it on my phone and they hear the sound as I click on it. My question is what do you do with the points? Do you do incentives? If so what do you do?
