Fill Up Your Basket!

Happy Easter sweet friends! To celebrate, the Freebielicious crew is filling your baskets!

I'm excited to share with you my new and improved math flowers!!
Last year, we decorated our classroom with these math flowers, but I wanted to add a little more this year! Instead of just filling the petals with equations, we're going to show the number in 6 different ways! Number word, tens frame, addition sentence, subtraction sentence, tally marks and place value! I also included two flower templates, one for numbers 1-10 and one for numbers 11-20. So excited to plant our garden this spring!

Now bunny hop on over to Tammy from Live, Love, Laugh Kindergarten to add more to your basket!

Peep Peep!

Yesterday we finished our peeps in a basket. They turned out absolutely adorable and really brighten up our room for spring!

I decided to have my students make a spring cinquain since we are always working on parts of speech.

We started the lesson by reading It's Spring by Linda Glaser to further our knowledge of spring. We have started to introduce "reading for a purpose" so I told my students to listen to special words that make them think of spring time.

Then I put four columns up on the whiteboard: Adjectives, Verbs ending in ing, Phrases and Nouns. {I wish I had taken a picture but I was deep in the lesson so I didn't get a chance!} We color code the parts of speech in our class so that they are easy to identify. I wrote all the adjectives we came up with in blue, the verbs in green, the phrases in red {just because} and the nouns in black. After we brainstormed words for each category, I gave my students their writing page and had them color code each line with the correct color crayon.
Then all they had to do was match the words on the board to the correct line.
They did a really great job on their poems!

If you're interested, you can pick up this craft and cinquain templates in my TpT store!

Now I'm off to enjoy my spring break! Woop woopie!!

Going on an Egg Hunt {Math Style!}

Just wanted to stop by real quick and share a fun little freebie to practice those math facts during the Spring.
Going on an egg hunt for math problems!

I found that cute little magnifying glass in the Target dollar section, but I also have a ton in my classroom from old science kits. The kiddos adore searching for the teeny tiny math problems and are so engaged. I am all about making math fun!

Behavior Bingo

Last year before summer break, I shared this behavior management tip that I was using with my students. They were having a tough time staying focused and following classroom rules! Well now that we have less than 2 weeks until Spring Break...we're feeling it again! I'm pretty sure it's spring fever! At any rate, I thought I'd share it again in case you missed it last year!
Behavior Bingo
Choose one behavior that you find your students are having a tough time with and let them know that you're looking for it.
My kiddos are having a super hard time transitioning quietly. I'm pretty sure I'm running a circus ;)
We need several reminds to transition quietly and quickly, so now we are going to be rewarded for doing it correctly.
I put up our bingo chart and prize chart and the bingo pieces in the little bucket.
  {Sorry it's blurry...iPhone picture!}

When we transition quietly and quickly, I will choose a ticket from the bucket.

Then I will cover the corresponding number on the chart. You could just use a dry-erase marker since the chart is laminated, but I like to cover the chart with fun magnets instead.

They get bingo by filling an entire column. Whichever column they fill first is the prize they will earn!
P- Popsicle Party {or you could do popcorn party, pizza party, or just party and you can decide what they get!}
R- Read-a-thon. My students really enjoy reading. Probably because they're all really good at it! During our read-a-thon, they can bring a pillow or blanket from home, read with their shoes off and basically just have a relaxing afternoon reading.
I- Inside Games. You know, those fun games you get to play during rainy day recess. You know, the games us Southern California residents rarely ever get to play! That's what we'll do! Of course, you can always make this one an ice cream party, or an invite of some sort.
Z- Zoo Day {bring a stuffed animal to school} Z was hard! Any other ideas!?
E- Extra Recess! I have a feeling this one is going to be the most enticing!

Hopefully, this will help a little, or this teacher is going to have a very few weeks ahead of her!
Download your own behavior bingo board below!
Thinking of different prizes?
The zipped file that contains both a ready to use Behavior Bingo board and an editable chart. You will need access to PowerPoint to edit the custom slide.

Peeps in a Basket

I'm so excited to start celebrating Spring! I love the bright colors and all the little baby animals! So cute! I created these little chickadees that we can make for our spring bulletin board.

{thanks to my FB fans for helping me think up a name!}

I added some full page writing templates as well as half page, in case you want to attach the writing to the basket! You can use these for creative writing or informative writing {throw some common core in there!}

And some pre-writing pages because I love 'em :)
Aren't they adorable!?

You can purchase them at my TpT store if you're interested :)
