Monday Made It {DIY Door Signs}

I'm SO excited that Tara's Monday Made its are back!! I am VERY excited to have time to make things over the summer {and some of them might even be wedding related and that just makes me giddy!}. But alas, I am not on summer vacation yet, and I haven't blogged in over a week which is just torture for me, so I'm going to recycle a Monday Made it post from a couple of years ago ;) My sweet friend Nicole posted a picture of her adorable daughter in front of her classroom door and it reminded me about the cute little door signs I made a few summers ago, so here they are again in case you haven't seen them yet!

DIY Door Sign

Is it obvious that I'm obsessed with DIY crafts yet?? They are seriously my favorite! Here's a little door sign that I made for one of my teaching buddies who is teaching 1st grade this year. {hi!}

Isn't it adorable?!
I found that over-sized apple during my first visit to Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago! Can you believe that I had never been to a Hobby Lobby before?! It's not my fault, I've always wanted to go! But there wasn't one by me. When I found out one was opening it was like Heaven on Earth! SO.MUCH.FUN!!

Here's what you need to make this door sign:
{why is it sideways?! who knows}
*over sized wooden apple
*paint pen

I always do a rough draft on paper before I attempt to write on the wood because I make a mistake every single time! So after I practice and get it the way I want, then I write on the wood.

Do one layer with the paint pen, let it dry for about 5 minutes and then go over it again.

Hot glue two pieces of ribbon onto the back of the apple and tie together at the top.

Easy peasy!?

I also made a couple for my blogging friends that I was so lucky to meet in NYC! I love them! {the signs and the girls!}

Let me know if you try this craft!
