Guest Blogger {Fluency and Fitness!}

A few weeks ago, my sweet friend Brittany posted an amazing resource on her new blog and I was quickly obsessed! I begged her to share her fabulous idea with you all here on my blog, and guess what!? She agreed! Woohoo! I'm so excited to be sharing her with you today!

I’m so excited and grateful to be a guest blogger on Hadar’s amazing blog! My name is Brittany and my
blog is Tickled Pink in Primary. I’m a new blogger, and would love for you to
check out my page.

I’m thrilled to show you my new series called Fluency & Fitness. Fluency is
such an important part of learning. The most common way to practice fluency is
drill and practice with flashcards to quickly review letters, sight words,
numbers, etc. My Fluency & Fitness bundles help students produce those
skills quickly, but also gets students moving and having fun!

Here’s a sample of my Letter Fluency & fitness bundle which includes uppercase
letters, lowercase letters, and a mixture of both.

Watch the video below to see an example of how to use Fluency & Fitness.

As you can see, you simply project this slideshow onto a big screen and flip through the slides as fast or slow as you think your students can do each skill. When they see an exercise slide, they have to do that exercise until you click to the next screen.

I have created a number version as well with 3 slideshows: 0-10, 0-20, 0-100 The 0-100 slideshow does not do all numbers to 100, but I picked about 30 random numbers for them to practice. I practiced this with a colleague’s group of 1st graders who LOVED it! You’ll even see they are excited to do the push-ups :)

This teacher has been having trouble getting PDF’s to open, so we had to use the PowerPoint which means my cute fonts didn’t show up right! As you can see in the picture below, the numbers are age appropriate because I used the Miss Kindergarten font!

Here are a few more versions I’ve made and I have plans for more!

Hope you love them as much as I do! Thanks again to Hadar for letting me take over her blog for the day!

  5. LOVE this integration with fitness/PE especially since I need to get mandated PE minutes in...
Are you planning on making a bundle that focuses on sight words?

    1. I am working on Fry's first 100 words and then going to make a pre-primer and primer dolch words bundle as well. My sister is getting married this weekend so I'll be busy, but hopefully next week I can get them created and uploaded. I'm glad I can help you get some PE in!
